In 1826, Georgios Karaïskakis confronted in Arachova, just in front of the Aghios Georgios church, the army of Mustafa Bey. The Greeks won and Mustafa Bey himself was killed.
The patron saint of Arachova is Aghios Georgios and every year he is celebrated during three days with various local traditional customs.
In the late years, Arachova has turned into a popular winter resort thanks to the Skiing Resort of Parnassos, situated at an altitude of 1.600 – 2.300 meters. Arachova is also linked to the charms of winter sceneries and sport activities.
The journey to Arachova can easily include a visit to Delphi.
The staff at Delphi Beach will be happy to guide you in organizing the best suited journey.
